"Two other companies just added refrigerant without finding the leak. These guys found a pinhole in the evaporator coil, repaired it, and the system has held charge perfectly for over a year."

AC Refrigerant Recharge in Pompano Beach, FL
Professional Refrigerant Services
If your AC is blowing warm air, running constantly without reaching the set temperature, or producing ice on the refrigerant lines, you may have a refrigerant issue. Refrigerant doesn't get "used up" — if your system is low, there's a leak that needs to be found and repaired before recharging.
Signs of Low Refrigerant
- Warm air from vents despite the thermostat being set low
- Ice or frost buildup on the refrigerant lines or evaporator coil
- System runs continuously without reaching the set temperature
- Hissing or bubbling sounds near the indoor or outdoor unit
- Higher-than-normal electric bills from the system working harder
- Humidity levels rising inside the home
Our Refrigerant Service Process
1. System Diagnosis
We don't just add refrigerant and leave. We perform a complete system evaluation including pressure testing, temperature measurement, and performance analysis to determine if a refrigerant issue is truly the cause of your problem.
2. Leak Detection
Using electronic leak detectors, UV dye testing, and nitrogen pressure testing, we locate the exact source of any leak. Common leak locations include evaporator coils, condenser coils, service valve connections, and refrigerant line joints.
3. Leak Repair
Once located, we repair the leak using industry-standard methods. This may involve brazing copper lines, replacing leaking components, or tightening connections.
4. System Evacuation
After the repair, we evacuate the system with a vacuum pump to remove moisture and non-condensable gases that can cause problems.
5. Precise Recharge
We recharge your system to the exact manufacturer specification using digital scales and manifold gauges. Proper charge is critical — both overcharging and undercharging reduce efficiency and can damage the compressor.
6. Performance Verification
We verify the repair by measuring superheat, subcooling, and temperature differential to confirm the system is operating within manufacturer specifications.
Refrigerant Types
R-410A (Puron)
The current standard refrigerant for residential AC systems. If your system was manufactured after 2010, it likely uses R-410A. This refrigerant is readily available and environmentally safer than older alternatives.
R-22 (Freon)
R-22 has been phased out due to its ozone-depleting properties. Production and import were banned in 2020, making remaining supplies extremely expensive. If your system uses R-22, we can discuss retrofitting to R-407C or upgrading to a new R-410A system.
R-407C
A common "drop-in" replacement for R-22 systems. While not identical in performance, it allows older equipment to continue operating without a complete system replacement.
Why Proper Refrigerant Charge Matters
- Undercharged - Reduces cooling capacity, increases run time, can damage the compressor
- Overcharged - Increases head pressure, reduces efficiency, can cause liquid slugging
- Correct Charge - Optimal efficiency, proper cooling, maximum equipment life
EPA Compliance
All our technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification for handling refrigerants. We follow all federal regulations for refrigerant recovery, recycling, and reclamation. Releasing refrigerant into the atmosphere is illegal and subject to fines up to $44,539 per day per violation.
